One of the earliest tricks of a legalist is to "pretend to be righteous"! Anyone who is not humble about the reality of their sin, is only pretending to be something they are not.

Jesus came to save sinners. We will either fall on His righteousness and be saved, or we will be crushed by His justice and be damned. This is the good news of the gospel. We don't have to be righteous before God will accept us! We don't have to pretend to be something we are not. Jesus desires to make us "righteous" so He can live through us.

Lean into His work today. Obedience to Jesus is the key to christian living. It always has been. It always will be. Apart from Jesus, we are all utterly lost.
