Proverbs 29:25 says, "The fear of man is a snare, but the one who fears the Lord will be protected." We all want the approval of others. In fact, most of us work way too hard to get it. We do too much to garner the affection and attention of those we want to "like" us. We continually judge ourselves based on the opinion of others. This is a bad idea.
We should live to have God's approval! We should say and do the things that will bring Him joy. We should do what we do because we value His opinion of us! This chapter teaches us that God alone is the one we should fear. Because He loves us and cares for us, we should know that living for Him will be of great benefit in the end. Even a cup of water given in His name will not go unrewarded!
Live for God's approval today.
